Secondary CPD: Developing literacy in physical education

• Two, 90 minute, CPD sessions
• Between session reading and GAP tasks

Session one: Wednesday 28th February 2024 15:30-17:00

Session two: Wednesday 13th March 2024 15:30-17:00

Course content

Across the two sessions we will:

• Use evidence from research and theory to investigate effective literacy strategies for teaching and learning in physical education
• Use oral discussion and group work strategies to build subject knowledge and vocabulary for KS3
• Develop knowledge and strategies for teaching vocabulary, etymology and morphology
• Be able to use active reading strategies to engage with a variety of subject texts.
• Use models and sentence combining strategies to improve extended answers at KS4
