Summer school learning sequences
“Summer school provision with an academic focus has the potential to support attending pupils to make up for some of their missed education.”
DfE 2021
During the summer of 2021 we developed a series of pick-and-mix summer school learning sequences to help schools deliver fun activities to boost pupils’ reading, writing, speaking and listening.
These were developed mainly for students transitioning from primary to secondary school, with some additional support for secondary students moving from Year 9 to Year 10.
All sequences were adapted from our evidence-based programmes and provided content to be taught across five days or more. They included lesson plans, accompanying video content and downloadable resources to ensure that summer school learning was accessible, fun and easy to deliver.
These learning sequences can be accessed from this page. We'll be looking to update our range of summer learning sequences for 2022.
