Education Recovery - Summer school

Learning sequences supporting student transition from primary to secondary

Summer school learning sequences

“Summer school provision with an academic focus has the potential to support attending pupils to make up for some of their missed education.”
DfE 2021

Are you providing a summer school for children transitioning from primary to secondary school? During the coming weeks we will be releasing our summer school learning sequences to help you deliver fun activities that will boost pupils’ reading, writing, speaking and listening.

All sequences are adapted from our evidence-based programmes and each will provide up to five days of content. We're including lesson plans, accompanying video content and downloadable resources to ensure that summer school learning is accessible, fun and easy to deliver.

Choose from the following summer school options:

  • NewsWise – our journalism academy trains pupils to spot misinformation and report the stories that are important to them
  • Monologue Jam – children develop their speaking and listening skills while working towards a performance event
  • Skills Academy – our digital reading catch-up programme that fuses physical activity with reading comprehension skills
  • Summer Writing Challenge: Comics Rule! – focused on authentic writing processes, children will produce their own book and find their own creative voice

If you want to be the first to hear when summer school learning sequences are released, please register and we'll be in touch.
