#BoroReads Midsummer challenge

Girl book

Middlesbrough Reads has this week launched the #BoroReads midsummer challenge in partnership with the School Readiness team at Middlesbrough council.

The challenge offers 30 days of fun, reading-themed activities for all the family. Those who take part can take photos of themselves completing each challenge and send them to bororeads@literacytrust.org.uk for a chance to win a book. We have titles for adults too so grownups can also get involved.

Research shows that reading for just 10 minutes a day can have a significant impact on a child's achievements [1]. So this challenge is a fun way to instill some positive reading habits into the lives of local families.

Daily challenges will be featured on the Middlesbrough Family Information Service Facebook page, while the Middlesbrough Reads page will feature highlights throughout the month by showcasing entries and featuring some of the challenges each week.

Families can also download this handy chart that features all of the challenges across the 30 days so you can tick them off as you go along.
