We would like you to submit an entry for our competition which uses the word ‘hello’ – this can be in any language, a dialect or something unique to your family and friends. There are lots of ways you can enter including; writing a story, poem, rap or anything else.
Entries must be under 500 words. You can also enter by creating a video or audio recording.
We're looking for entries that celebrate the many differences in languages and ways the people communicate.
You could be inspired by a fable, folktale or family story that will give us an insight into the languages you speak and hear every day, or other ways that you like to communicate.
Open to: ages 9 to 13
Closing date: Friday 11 March
How to enter
- You can submit a piece of writing, an audio recording or even a video for this competition using the box below. Your entry should not exceed a five-minute recording, or be longer than around 500 words.
- Alternatively, you can email your entry to connecting.stories@literacytrust.org.uk. Entries must be submitted from a parent or guardian’s email address.
- Don’t forget to include:
- Your name
- Age
- School
- This statement for your entry to be counted: I give permission for this work, along with the name and school provided, to be published on the National Literacy Trust’s website and social media channels.
