Do you have excellent financial administration skills and experience in the voluntary sector?

We are recruiting a Senior Finance Officer to manage day-to-day financial transactions and provide essential support to the rest of the finance team.

You will be responsible for the financial ledgers and bank and balance sheet reconciliations, and will line manage a part-time Finance Officer.

You will also prepare and submit VAT returns, prepare Gift Aid claims, maintain the fixed asset register and assist the Finance Manager with the production of management accounts, budgets and forecasts.

You will need to have excellent attention to detail and communication skills, and up-to-date knowledge of charity finance, including issues facing charities in relation to VAT and Gift Aid.

One person in seven has poor literacy skills that impact on every area of their life. A child without good reading, writing and communication skills can’t succeed at school, and as an adult they could be locked out of the job market. Poverty doubles the likelihood of literacy failure by the age of five.

We are an independent charity dedicated to raising literacy levels in the UK. Our research and analysis make us the leading authority on literacy. We run projects in the poorest communities, campaign to make literacy a priority for politicians and parents, and support schools. Our mission is to give young people the literacy skills they need to get a job and lead a successful life.

As well as a competitive salary, we offer benefits including a generous annual leave allowance of 28 days (plus bank holidays and office closure between Christmas and new year), and pensions contributions of 8% of annual salary.
