What you’ll be doing
Reading for enjoyment is key to improving literacy skills. Our Young Readers Programme brings the joy of reading to young people living in deprived areas as we support these children to develop their love of books and reading identity, through a series of fun events focused on book choice and reading for enjoyment.
You will be responsible for all aspects of project delivery, including recruitment of schools, content development, training, safeguarding, risk management, event management, volunteer management and quality assurance. As part of a team of five, you will also be involved with the delivery of our other programmes and activities for young readers.
As part of this, you will work closely with the wider School Programmes team, as well as external contacts including corporate stakeholders, particularly our programme partner Amazon, and schools, community organisations and local and national media.
This role is based in London but with flexibility to work from home for the majority of the time. However, you will need to be able to be in London for team and staff days, which could be an average of once a month, as well as travelling for in-person project delivery and training when necessary.
What we’re looking for
You will be an excellent project manager, and have experience of event planning and delivery, as well as previous work within education and volunteer-orientated settings. Adaptibility, cooperativeness and your organisation are essential, whilst familiarity with working in partnership with corporate organisations would be an advantage.
