Partnerships Manager

Closing date: 5pm, Tuesday 11 December 2018

Salary: £34,000 per year

Contract: Fixed-term contract for 18 months

Hours: 35 hours per week

Location: London SW8 1RL

Interviews: Tuesday 18 December

Are you an outstanding relationship or account manager with experience of business development? Do you have the ambition and drive to build partnerships that will transform the home learning environment for families around the country?

We are recruiting a Partnerships Manager to support a new programme to improve early speech, language and communication for families living in areas of disadvantage. You will be responsible for securing commitment from 100 leading UK businesses to support the home learning environment through social marketing activity, HR and corporate social responsibility practices, and volunteering.

Working closely with colleagues in the fundraising and community programmes team, you will identify and target companies with significant reach to families with children aged 0-5, in areas of socio-economic disadvantage. You will develop activities relevant to their business to encourage families to improve early language and literacy skills.

You will need experience of fundraising, CSR and working in the voluntary sector, as well as significant account or relationship management experience. You will also need project and risk management skills, and an understanding of social marketing or behaviour change campaigns.

This is a unique opportunity to play a lead role in an ambitious and creative programme, working with leading brands and partners and impacting on the lives of families across the UK.

One person in seven has poor literacy skills that impact on every area of their life. A child without good reading, writing and communication skills can’t succeed at school, and as an adult they could be locked out of the job market. Poverty doubles the likelihood of literacy failure by the age of five.

We are an independent charity dedicated to raising literacy levels in the UK. Our research and analysis make us the leading authority on literacy. We run projects in the poorest communities, campaign to make literacy a priority for politicians and parents, and support schools. Our mission is to give young people the literacy skills they need to get a job and lead a successful life.

As well as a competitive salary, we offer benefits including a generous annual leave allowance of 28 days (plus bank holidays and office closure between Christmas and new year), and pensions contributions of 8% of annual salary.

This role is based in London.

Closing date: 5pm, Tuesday 11 December 2018
