Are you an excellent fundraiser with experience of developing and managing relationships with businesses and individuals while working to clear income targets?

We are recruiting a Development Manager to support our National Literacy Trust Hub in Swindon, which brings together a range of community partners to improve literacy levels in the area. This is a maternity cover role for up to one year.

You will be responsible for developing key relationships with businesses, individuals, trusts, foundations and other sources of funding and promoting business and community engagement in our work.

You will need to be a successful fundraiser with significant and well-rounded fundraising experience. You will also need to be a strong team player, working closely with colleagues and partners in Swindon as well as the central National Literacy Trust team in London.

One person in six has poor literacy skills that impact on every area of their life. A child without good reading, writing and communication skills will struggle to succeed at school, and as an adult they could be locked out of the job market. Poverty doubles the likelihood that, by the age of five, a child’s literacy skills will be below average.

We are an independent charity dedicated to raising literacy levels in the UK. Our research and analysis make us the leading authority on literacy. We run projects in the poorest communities, campaign to make literacy a priority for politicians and parents, and support schools. Our mission is to give young people the literacy skills they need to get a job and lead a successful life.
