Are you an excellent fundraiser with experience of developing and managing relationships with businesses and individuals while working to clear income targets?
We are recruiting a Development Manager to support our National Literacy Trust Hub in Peterborough, which brings together a range of community partners to improve literacy levels in the area. This is a new post, so you will be responsible for developing a fundraising plan and building relationships with businesses, individuals, trusts, foundations and other sources of funding, as well as promoting business and community engagement in our work.
You will need to be a successful fundraiser with significant and well-rounded fundraising experience, and comfortable working independently. You will also need to be a strong team player, working closely with colleagues and partners in Peterborough as well as the central National Literacy Trust team in London.
One person in seven has poor literacy skills that impact on every area of their life. A child without good reading, writing and communication skills can’t succeed at school, and as an adult they could be locked out of the job market. Poverty doubles the likelihood of literacy failure by the age of five.
We are an independent charity dedicated to raising literacy levels in the UK. Our research and analysis make us the leading authority on literacy. We run projects in the poorest communities, campaign to make literacy a priority for politicians and parents, and support schools. Our mission is to give young people the literacy skills they need to get a job and lead a successful life.
As well as a competitive salary, we offer benefits including a generous annual leave allowance of 28 days (plus bank holidays and office closure between Christmas and new year), and pensions contributions of 8% of annual salary.
This role is based in Peterborough and requires frequent travel in the area to develop partnerships and build relationships. There is also an opportunity for a significant amount of home working, in accordance with our working from home policy.
